Thanks again for joining this exciting and effective collaborative conservation project! You will be making a big difference on critical environmental issues.
You did it: Clean Energy for Wisconsin! Wednesday, April 12, 2006
Dear Wisconsin InterNetwork Members,
On Conservation Lobby Day, many of you joined 250 other conservationists to call on the Wisconsin Legislature to pass a clean energy bill.
Your work paid off when the Energy Efficiency and Renewables Act (SB 459) passed its final hurdle – the State Assembly approved the bill 94-0 in early March! Before that the State Senate approved the bill with a vote of 32-1 and on March 17, Governor Doyle signed the bill in Green Bay.
It’s time to congratulate yourself and celebrate a major success for the environment!
Through the Wisconsin InterNetwork, hundreds of citizens took action on one of the most urgent environmental issues facing our state.
And now you can FINALLY put on your dancing shoes and enjoy a victory dance!
Over the past THREE YEARS, citizens, legislators, businesses, and organizations have been working together to create an energy plan for Wisconsin that looks to the future, reduces our dependence on dirty fossil fuels, and saves us money.
Thanks to YOU, we now have a bill that encourages renewable energy development by requiring 10% of energy produced in Wisconsin to come from renewable energy sources by 2015. We also have peace of mind knowing that the Focus on Energy fund will be protected so that citizens and businesses will continue to benefit from its energy efficiency and conservation programs and renewables research.
CONGRATULATIONS—we did it! YOU did it!
Sincerely, The Wisconsin InterNetwork Team
